In Nigeria’s political space, much emphasis is placed on whether one wins one’s polling unit, although winning one’s polling unit is no guarantee one would win the election itself.
Well, as it happens, celebrated Nigerian rapper Oluwabankole Wellington, better known as Banky W, has won his polling unit located in Marwa.
Banky W, who is contesting for a seat in the Federal House of representatives (Eti Osa constituency) under the Modern Democratic Party, was said to have scored 50 votes to beat Ibrahim Obanikoro of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Omotesho Bakare of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who scored 40 and 30 votes respectively.
The winner of the Eti Osa constituency has yet to be declared by the Impendent National Electoral Commission (INEC). Until then, let us keep our fingers crossed. Watch this space, though. If Banky W should win, you would hear it here first.
More than that, it would be a moment of celebration for the music industry in Nigeria, for Banky W is one of its own
Events are still unfolding and we can’t wait to bring them to you. So stick around.
