“It’s About Doing The Right Thing” – Danny Young Speaks on Duel with Tiwa Savage

“Lower” crooner, Danny Young has finally opened up on his reasons for getting YouTube to take down Tiwa Savage‘s song, “One”.

In an interview with TheNet, the singer who has been around for a while now said that it was nothing personal and that he was only particular about her doing the right thing, even as he claimed that he only went public when her lawyers refused to respond to letters from his lawyers.

In his words: “This is not a social media battle, it is just about doing the right thing. When I heard her song last year, my lawyers reached out to her lawyers but they ignored us. They thought it was just one small boy talking.”

The song in question titled “One” apparently lifted lines from Danny Young’s song and while some fans argued that the line itself was a Yoruba proverb, it still wasn’t enough defense for streaming platform, YouTube as they went ahead to take down the song.

Speaking on that, Danny Young said: “It is not about the song being from a proverb, the media got it all wrong by saying it was Sunny Ade who sang it first, but the truth is Sunny Ade only used a few lines from the proverb while Tiwa’s verse was a replica of mine, as well as the extra rhythm and lyrics that I added.”

It will be interesting to hear what Tiwa Savage has to say about this but you can be sure that when she does speak, you’ll hear it from us first.
