Tiwa Savage Defeats Davido and Others to Clinch “Best African Act” Award at the 2018 MTV EMAs | See Full List of Winners.

Still on a high from the smashing success of her “Fever” video with Wizkid that got the world talking, Mavin Records’s songstress and “Lova Lova” hitmaker Tiwa Savage has been declared winner of the MTV EMAs in the “Best African Act” category.

She brushed aside fierce contention from Davido (Nigeria), Shekinah and Distruction Boyz (South Africa), Fally Ipupa (DRC), and Nyashinski (Kenya).

Tiwa Savage, who was present at the award ceremony and collected the award herself, would go down in history as the first female to clinch the award, which she dedicated to her fans and to her son Jamil.

A delighted Tiwa Savage posted a picture of herself holding her prize, with the following caption: “Almighty God, you ARE so faithful. My savage soldiers you did this for us. You’ve stuck with me through the roller coasters, THANK YOU. To my amazing team, this is just the beginning. African Woman, this is for US. I’ve been through a lot but I’ve kept my head up and weathered the storm because I know some little girl somewhere is dreaming like I did.
