Davido Meets With Ooni of Ife

David Adedeji Adeleke, the Nigerian musician of Yoruba descent from Osun state more popularly known as Davido recently visited the Ooni of Ife at his palace in Ile Ife Osun state.

The BET award winning singer shared pictures of himself prostrating— the highest form of respect a subject may use to express his veneration for the Monarch. He went further, praising the Ooni in the traditional Yoruba way by thanking him for his love and care and wishing the venerable monarch a long, peaceful and fruitful reign on the throne. He then expressed his pride in being a son of the ancient land.

The “Assurance” hit maker is seen in another picture sitting by the foot of the monarch as they engage in conversation which most definitely would have included a shower of blessings and prayers from the Ooni, as is custom.

Davido has recently enjoyed a wave of success that has set him on a path to even greater heights of achievement such as his recent win of the BET Awards for Best International Act, and with his current display of respect for his heritage and elders, as the Yoruba say, the child that heeds the advice of his elders will one day grow to become the one of the elders, we expect even greater things from him.
