Headies Organisers accused of rigging after Tiwa Savage & Yemi Alade award mix-up
The 12th Headies held last Saturday may just go down as the most controversial yet following the many issues that have continued to trail the music award.
First it was comedian Victor Ebiye commenting that Aramide who won the Alternative Music Award did not deserve it, insinuating that she had slept with someone to get the award.
After the backlash that followed the comment and the resultant apology, other issues have continued to pop up as the organisers themselves battle to answer questions and provide clarity.
Fans who followed the award had gone berserk after the host, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu announced “Johnny” crooner, Yemi Alade as Best Performer of the Year when it was Mavin Queen, Tiwa Savage’s name that appeared on the screen.

Despite the announcement of Yemi Alade as winner, the award still went to Tiwa Savage and music fans have continued to troll the award organisers, screaming foul and demanding answers.
It remains to be seen how the organisers will respond to the claims but one thing is certain: the future of the music award may depend on this.
