With the massive amount of international recognition and acclaim that African – and particularly Nigerian – music has received in the recent past, thanks to the stellar hits that consistent industry frontrunners have continually churned out, it’s really no surprise that the biggest names on the worldwide music scene more than occasionally jam to songs released by our own superstars.
The latest of such recognitions – if you will – was seen when Nigerian Afropop international wavemaker, Davido, recently treated his Instagram and Twitter followers to a short clip of Canadian international rap sensation, Drake, and his Nigerian-born American counterpart, Wale, grooving to O.B.O.’s recent hit song ‘FIA’ on what seemed to be Drake’s DJ set.
The DMW boss obviously could neither hide nor contain his anticipated excitement about the video which has now gone viral. The superstar’s caption said it all:
Haha @champagnepapi bumping FIA at his dj set last night in LA … mad! SHUKU SHAKER 🔥🔥🇳🇬🌍 Cc @wale my brother ❤️

It would be recalled that uber-successful world famous R&B superstar R-Kelly jumped on the remix of the Davido’s massively successful ‘If’ last year, thereby making the hit song an even bigger international phenomenon.
Even though Davido categorically stated in a recent interview that he doesn’t care much for international collaborations, do you think it might be too much of a stretch to hope for an international remix for the scorcher, ‘FIA’?
