Beyoncé, Eminem and The Weeknd have just recently been confirmed as headliners for this year’s Coachella event, but that’s not the only reason we’re excited. Fans of Wizkid will especially be super-thrilled to find out that the StarBoy will also be performing at the highly anticipated festival. Yes, you read that right!

The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival held annually in California showcases widely-popular and well-established artistes, as well as promising ones and reunited groups. The event has been headlined in the past by worldwide superstars such as Jay Z, Kanye West, Coldplay, Radiohead, Drake, Calvin Harris, Kendrick Lamar, Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg to mention but a few, and has recorded attendances of over 200,000 people on some editions.

Coachella is by far one of the biggest and most attended music festivals in the world. There’s therefore no gainsaying the fact that the platform is a massive one for Wizkid, and a major step forward for Africa on the international music scene.

This year, the MOBO 2017 Best International Act is slated to thrill what promises to be the biggest audience he has ever performed for. Wizkid is slated to perform on the same day as Queen Bey, who couldn’t take the stage at last year’s festival because of her pregnancy.

Wizkid definitely deserves the Coachella slot, considering the unbelievably successful 2017 theManya crooner had. Apart from his unprecedented streak of international award nominations and wins, the artiste released his mega hit “Come Closer” featuring Drake, his monster album –Sounds From The Other Side – had several international collaborations with the likes of Chris Brown, Future, Young Jeezy and Wale, and crowned it all rather magnificently with the Wizkid Live in Lagos Concert.

2018 already looks like it’s going to be an even bigger year for the superstar.

The 2018 edition of the music and arts festival which holds on two weekends – April 13 – April 15 and April 20 – April 22 – will be lit up by other African representatives such as the widely-acclaimed South African House DJ, Black Coffee, who was notably featured on Drake’s playlist, “More Life”, and recently got his own show on Apple’s Beats 1 Radio.

The “Classic Man” himself – Jidenna – is also slated to perform on the same day as Eminem.
