All Hail Sauti Sol, Khaligraph, Nikita Kering and Rash Band for Winning at AFRIMA 2019

Africa’s crème de la crème in music gathered at the Eko Convention Centre of Eko Hotels and Suites for the All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA) last weekend, held in Lagos, Nigeria.

Hosted by South African actress Pearl Thusi and DRC comedian Eddie Kadi, the sixth annual event saw a night of pure delight from electrifying performances by Nigeria’s Skibii and Joe Boy, to the celebration of Africa’s diverse culture present.

The award ceremony which aims to celebrate African music globally, selected nominees in 36 categories, which comprised the Continental category – celebrating music genres and forms- and Regional category that focuses on the artists’ outstanding achievements.

This year saw seven Kenyan acts nominated, among them Nyashinski, Olivia Ingasiani Ambani and Judy Stevens.

Nikita Kering made history as the first solo female to win both Best Female Artist Eastern Africa and Revelation of the African Continent awards, at only 17. Kering was over the moon and took to Instagram to celebrate with fans.

“We did it!! Youngest ever AFRIMA nominee and now the winner of; Best female in Eastern Africa and Revelation of the African continent! Thank you so much to all that took their time to vote!” She wrote.
