Apparently good times are here and giving Nigerian singer Niniola a firm hug. Niniola, who became the first Nigerian female artiste to reach 1 million listeners on Spotify, has just been followed on Instagram by Canadian rapper Drake.
This supposedly little milestone provoked a fever of excitement in her, and she wrote happily on Instagram: “Imagine Waking Up in the Morning to find out Drake Just followed U… Hmmmm Dis Isolo girl Sha!!! i followed back immediately @champagnepapi Welcome #NINIOLA #QOAH #AFROBOSS #NAIJA2DWORLD”
Clearly, based on what Niniola herself has written, Drake’s following her is a career boost. She may have had “humble” beginnings, but her name is up there now and still flying.
By the way, celebrated producer Timbaland had followed her a week earlier. This supposedly small career wins should surprise no one, though, for Niniola had been recognized by the New Yorker back in 2018 as one of the Nigerians changing the sound of global pop. Other Nigerians who made the list include 2Baba and Davido.
One imagines this is only the beginning and that greater things are in store for the “Designer” crooner.
