2018 was the Burna yeah no doubt as the talented and controversial singer, swept four awards at the recently held Soundcity MVP Awards with one of the awards being the Best African Artiste.
Burna Boy has always been in the news no doubt. His talent ensures that his songs always get deserved attention. But then, sometimes, the bad far outweighs the good with him as was the case with his attack on Mr 2Kay and his coachella call-out.
When he’s not being controversial though, he has the ability to make magic happen with music and he showed us just how much in 2018 with the back to back hits and album that went viral. The unanimous view was that he owned 2018.
The awards are rolling in and the Soundcity MVP Awards showed this is a start as he swept four prestigious awards, beating off competition from Davido, AKA and co for the Best African Artiste award.

Teni won the Best New Artiste award
AKA won the Best Hip Hop award
Davido won Best Pop award
“Soco” cooked by Starboy, Ceeza Milli, Wizkid, Terri, Spotless won the Best Collaboration award
Mr Eazi won the Best Digital Artiste of the Year award
Patoranking‘s “Heal D World” music video won the Best Video of the Year
Navy Kenzo were named Best Music Group or Duo
Burna Boy won the Best Male MVP while Busiswa won the Best Female MVP award
Burna Boy‘s “Ye” got the Song of the Year Award
DJ Neptune was named Best African DJ of the Year
Phantom won the African Producer of the Year award
The African Artiste of the Year Award went to Burna Boy.
