Facts have since emerged that Augustine Kelechi, better known by his adopted stage name Tekno, has damaged his vocal box and will be divorced from singing for some time. This, according to a statement released by his management, is on the advice of his doctors.
Tekno’s management Triple MG, headed by Ubi Franklin, assured fans that while it is true the “Choko” mastermind’s vocal box is damaged, he (Tekno) has done a lot musically and some songs might be released even in this period of enforced hiatus.
“He also wants to reassure his fans that they have nothing to worry about because he has put in so much work, so a lot of great music will be put out,” the statement reads in part.
This wouldn’t be the first time Tekno, who recently made Pandora’s Artists to Watch List, would have to cancel shows as a result of health challenges.
Back in April 2017, Tekno, who Spotless co-opted on “The Benz” early last month, had suffered acid reflux and had to cancel his shows and then get admitted to an American hospital.
Tekno, who won the “Best New Act” at the MTV Africa Music Awards in 2016, will surely bounce back. I take “You Can Get It,” the title of his song with 2Kings, as prophetic. The “Jogodo” hitmaker will certainly get his vocal box back.
Tekno will sing again. You may as well drop your wishes for him in the comment section
