They are Planning to Kill Me – Daddy Showkey Cries Out in New Video

Ghetto soldier and Galala crooner John Asiemo, famous as Daddy Showkey, has raised alarm that his life is being threatened. The singer, who lives in Ajegunle, a ghetto in Lagos, has been campaigning against the arbitrary parking of trucks and tankers along the roads in the area and the resulting fire hazard.

He has apparently irked some powerful forces. He alerted the public in a video posted to his Instagram page. He wrote, verbatim:

“Information reaching me is that are planning to kill me I dey I look una, The Tankers and Trailers Parking around our neighborhood should leave now We are Crying Out Now #showdonshow #daddyshowkey #lionclan #asalamamovement #ajegunletotheworld #ajegunle please my people #repost to save a life.”

He described the situation as a time bomb waiting to explode. Said he: “The world should see the way people live in Lagos Nigeria.

Can you live like this and be happy? Some people pretend to be happy in this type of situation… it’s a time bomb waiting to explode.” However, he made it clear that he would not relent the trucks leave.

Daddy Showkey is a contemporary of Eedris Abdulkareem, Tony Tetuila and 2Baba, but has long faded from the limelight.

His last two singles, Showkey Again and One Day were released in 2017, six years after the release of Dancing Scene. The songs made only moderate impact.
