Davido Tells It All As He Covers The Native Magazine’s Latest Issue

Davido’s achievements defy his 25 years. In a very short amount of time, the multi-talented musician has achieved what many others are struggling to attain and has left an indelible mark in the Nigerian music industry and beyond.

It was no when we got wind of the pop culture icon’s latest project. And this time, he graces the front cover of Native Magazine looking suave as ever in the creative photo shoot.

In his interview with Toye Sokunbi – Founding Head of Operations of Native magazine, the Omo Baba Olowo (O.B.O) himself talks about his deal with Sony Music, how he met his manager Asa Asika, putting an end to the beef with fellow Nigerian artiste, Wizkid, why HE is his biggest competitor, and many more.

Talking about his EP Son of Mercy and carving his own niche in the Nigerian music industry, the DMW boss says “I knew myself. I was like, ‘this isn’t Davido’. My career has always been on fire at all times, (till then) there was never a time that I didn’t release a smashing hit single. However, as at that time, I didn’t have a hit to my name. Therefore, I called Sony and told them to let me do what I know how to do best.”

This decision he made inspired Back to Basics. On working with Asa Asika, he decided to work with him because he knew the nitty gritty of the industry and was young like himself. He also noted that the manager introduced him to Ice Prince and Wizkid.

When asked on what ended the feud between him and Wizkid, the “Assurance” hitmaker declared the feud was getting old and was leading to aggressive relationships between both camps.
