Davido Shakes Tables At The Headies, Calls Out Artistes To Help Others
“Fia” crooner and co-founder of HKN Music (a record label home to Sina Rambo, B.Red and Deekay), and DMW boss, David Adeleke, popularly known by his stage name, Davido gave a lot of people most especially artistes a new issue to ponder on after leaving the just concluded Headies Award Night.
The award-winning Nigerian artiste songwriter and record producer stunned a lot of people by calling out all Nigerian artistes to help upcoming artistes in the music industry as it is in lifting others that we also rise. The truth isn’t farfetched!
The talented Nigerian musician won three categories from the categories he was nominated for at the Headies 2018 Award Night. While in his award for Best Song he didn’t give any speech as he left the floor for Mayorkun to speak and show his appreciation for being awarded the Next Rated Artiste of the Year.
He finally gave his speech when he was called as the winner for the Artiste of the Year – a speech he decided to keep till the end so as to pass his message well to everyone. To further buttress his point, he mentioned that while people are wondering about his success, the secret lies in his helping of others as every members of the 30 Billion Gang weren’t just faces to him or numbers on a list of artistes signed up to his record label.
Rather, he regards them as family and he knows every one of them, bringing them in by extending that helping hand which he urges others to do the same.
For those who are very observant, you’ll note that Davido is one of those rare artistes that performs with almost all his crew members on stage in most cases; hence, giving them the spotlight to also shine. After all, the sky is big enough for everyone to fly.
This is unlike a lot of artistes in the music industry whose crew members are barely known by their fans. Interestingly, everyone working with Davido has been given the spotlight that makes them all feel like celebrities just by their association with the 30 Billion boss.
To Davido, artistes who have made it to the point of being popular and referred to as a celebrity should also try to help other artistes that are aspiring to be like them. This message was received with applaud from the crowd who, from responses, agree with Davido’s message because by example, he has shown what a great leader/ boss he is judging by his lifestyle and relationship with his DMW family also known as the 30 Billion Gang.
