Their Talent Has Benefited Our Nation – VP Osinbajo Praises Tiwa Savage, Olamide, Wizkid, Others

Professor Yemi Osinbajo, Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria has praised Nigerian music stars, Tiwa Savage, Olamide, Davido, Wizkid, Don Jazzy and others for using their creative efforts in music to create good global recognition for Nigeria.

The Vice President made a statement while delivering his speech at Covenant Christian Centre-organised program, tagged ‘The Platform. ‘The Platform’, praised music stars like Tiwa Savage, Olamide, Don Jazzy, Davido and Wizkid for their exploits it creating a good global identity for Nigeria, through their music.

 

The professor spoke of the music stars in glowing terms, stressing the goodwill and fame their music has brought to the nation. While speaking at the program, the Vice President said:

“Wherever you go in the world today, whether you’re in an airplane or in a department store, you can hear Nigerian music. The credit for taking Nigerian music to the world must to the likes of Tiwa Savage, Davido, Olamide, Don Jazzy, Wizkid, Waje and so many of them. Their creativity and talent has benefited our nation’s image and put the spring in the steps of so many aspiring young talents.”

The statement can also be seen as a way to appease the Nigerian youths following the statement made by President Muhammadu Buhari at the Commonwealth Business Forum in Westminster, London, after making a statement on Wednesday, 18th April 2018, where he tagged the youth as being lazy, banking on the belief that Nigeria is an oil-rich nation and that they rely on the government to do everything.

The statement went viral and many Nigerians especially the youths had a lot of things to say to the president. Angry Nigerians upon hearing the statement fired hot shots at him saying the president had no right insulting the youths, who struggle under very hard circumstances to make end meet.
