Olamide’s Young Jonn and Davido’s Kiddominant Feud over Soundcity MVP Award

It seems to have become the norm for Nigerian music acts to come at one another after every major award ceremony, so even though we were impressed that there was no evident bad blood after the just concluded Soundcity MVPs, we couldn’t help feeling it was unusual.

It however turns out that we might have spoken too soon, as there seems to be a fresh fast-brewing feud between the camps of two of the biggest names on the Nigerian music scene, Olamide and Davido, in the aftermath of the MVPs.

This time, however, things are a bit different as it’s not the artistes themselves who are at loggerheads; it’s their producers, Young Jonn and Kiddominant, and you’re right on the verge of finding out just why.

As you would recall, the prolific ‘Wicked Producer’ Young Jonn – who’s responsible for Olamide’s mega street anthem of 2017, ‘Wo!!’ – won the coveted award for Producer of the Year at the MVPs. Apparently, Kiddominant – who produced Davido’s smash hit, ‘Fall’ – however doesn’t agree with the verdict, seemingly believing he’s more deserving of the award.

Kiddominant (following the trend these days) went on social media to air his grievances, ostensibly calling out the organisers of the Soundcity MVPs for being unjust. Young Jonn, apparently in a bid to irk his fellow producer even further, came out to declare himself the best in the game, to which Kiddominant responded, referring to Young Jonn as a pig.

Here’s how it all went down:

YBNL Nation affiliated Young Jonn has had a stellar career in music production having produced hits such as Olamide’s bangers, ‘Story For The Gods’, ‘Bobo’ and ‘Konkobility’, Lil Kesh’s ‘Efejoku’ featuring Viktoh, and Kiss Daniel’s ‘Mama’.

Kiddominant has however had a fantastic career as well. Being responsible for ‘Rihanna’, the smash hit that shot Orezi into grand limelight, Kiddominant also produced 10 songs off Orezi’s debut ‘The Ghen Ghen’ album, as well as Davido’s highly acclaimed ‘Dodo’, ‘The Money’ and ‘Coolest Kid in Africa’ featuring South African rapper, Nasty C.

Do you agree with Kiddominant that he deserves the award better than Young Jonn does? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
