Davido Stars in New Nollywood Movie

It’s pretty common knowledge that frontrunners of any entertainment industry worldwide who have attained an appreciable level of success in their primary niches usually delve into other areas of entertainment and even business to attempt to conquer those fields as well.

In view of the above, there are a myriad of ventures we could easily imagine DMW boss, David Adeleke, devoting a significant amount of his time to, having already carved a well-deserved niche for himself on the Nigerian music scene, but we probably would not have had venturing into the Nigerian movie industry, Nollywood, high on our list.

Davido has however – to the surprise of more than just a few people – joined in on the trend that’s been set by the likes of Banky W, Ikechukwu, Vector, Seyi Shey and Chidinma – Nigerian music artistes who have all recently ventured into acting. But this isn’t exactly news, as ardent fans of O.B.O. would recall that Davido had his Nollywood debut in 2015, starring in a movie titled ‘John Zerebe’.

Davido starred alongside Gloria Young, Emma Blaq, Mimi Orjiekwe, and his cousin, Ikey Ojeogwu, who also produced the movie. It however never made it to the cinemas.

This time around, the ‘If’ mega-hit-maker stars in his second Nollywood role as a highly skilled pilot in a film titled ‘Legend at 60’.

The movie, which tells the story of highly successful pilot-turned-business mogul, Idahosa Wells Okunbo, also stars Nollywood thespians Solomon Akiyesi, Maureen Ihua and Charles Awurum.

Davido shared a short movie preview on Instagram to celebrate Okunbo –who has served as either chairman or director on numerous company boards in Nigeria, spanning multiple business sectors such as the agro-allied, petroleum, telecommunications, power, real estate and banking industries – as he turned 60 on January 7.

In the preview, Nigerian veteran reggae musician, Majek Fashek, who’s popular for songs such as ‘Send Down the Rain’ can as well be seen starring as himself.

See the preview below and let us know if you think Davido might have as big a shot with movies as he has had with music.
