Wizkid: Lagos To London, the Documentary

“From Nigeria to the world, we followed Wizkid on his international journey to superstardom — via his Lagos, Naija hometown to a sold-out show at Royal Albert Hall London along the way.”

Those words formed the official description of the 16-minute-long documentary by Boiler Room TV, the music broadcasting platform founded in London by Blaise Bellville, which also has regular operations in London, Amsterdam, New York City, Berlin, Lisbon, São Paulo, Mexico City, Kraków, Tokyo, Sydney, and Los Angeles.

Aptly titled ‘Wizkid: Lagos To London”, the documentary shows clips from the superstar’s phenomenal Royal Albert Hall performance where he performed some of his fans’ all time favourites such as ‘Don’t Dull’,  ‘Back to the Matter’ and popular street anthem ‘Ojuelegba’. It also features – in between clips from his sold-out London show – his most recent Felabration performance, snippets from his interview with Boiler Room TV, and, of course, heartfelt words of appreciation to his unrelenting fans for their support.

During the interview, Wizkid talks about how much his music has been influenced by the iconic, globally celebrated Afrobeat legend, Fela, and why he performs at the New Afrika Shrine every year as his own way of giving back to his fans.

The MOBO 2017 Best International Act also speaks about why Lagos will always be home to him, no matter how far around the globe he goes, adding that growing up in Lagos helped shape him as a person.

“If you can make it in Lagos, you can make it anywhere in the world,” the StarBoy boss said – a fact that’s difficult to dispute when one takes a minute to appreciate the young superstar’s unprecedented success on the international scene.

Meanwhile, fans of the ‘Manya’ crooner are already eagerly looking forward to Wizkid’s highly anticipated Coachella performance in April, as it promises to be an even bigger deal for the singer than his London feat.
