Manager Celebrates Davido’s 8 Impressive Soundcity MVP Nominations

It’s barely a week into 2018 and Davido is already back to winning ways. The DMW boss, who had a phenomenally stellar 2017, seems to be kicking off the New Year from where he left off last year with nominations in a record 8 categories of the popular Soundcity MVP awards, making him the artiste with the most nominations this year.

The Soundcity MVP Awards Festival is an event presented by Soundcity TV which awards deserving musicians and performers from all across Africa. Winners are chosen by the viewers and fans – by visiting #TheMVPs’ website – and a select committee of industry stakeholders.

The inaugural MVPs ceremony, which held on the 29th of December at the EXPO centre of the  Eko Hotels, Victoria Island, Lagos, saw Wizkid and Tekno as the big winners of the night.

Leading the pack for this second edition of the awards, Davido’s manager, Asa Asika – who started managing the superstar when he was barely 22, and is famed as arguably the youngest entrepreneur manager in the Nigerian entertainment industry – recently sent out a tweet to celebrate the superstar’s 8 nominations. The young industry mover seized the opportunity to canvass for votes from the public, a large percentage of whom are no doubt ardent fans of O.B.O., to help him win the awards.

The 2017 MTV EMA Best African Act, who incidentally took home no awards  at the inaugural edition of the event, is nominated this time around in the following categories:

-Best Male MVP

-Best Pop

-Digital Artiste of the year

-Video of the year

-Song of the year

-Viewer’s choice

-Listener’s choice

-African artiste of the year

The award ceremony comes up on Friday, January 12, 2018  at the Eko Convention Centre, Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.
