Mr Incredible, M.I Abaga steps out of retirement to get the empire he built back in order. This is as the Chocolate City chairman returns with a scathing assessment of the rap game in the country as well as its players. Titled “You Rappers Should Fix Up Your Lives,” M.I tongue lashed other rappers about the need to get their acts together.
M.I went back memory lane on the sacrifices he contributed to Hip Hop in Nigeria and the heights he took the industry. However, it looks like all those efforts seem to be going down the drain with the current crop of wordsmiths.
On “You Rappers Should Fix Up Your Lives,” M.I believes the game needed a Superman so he had to get back into the booth and set things aright. He made mention of rappers who have become singers and how South African rappers were flying the flag; making a mockery of their Nigerian counterparts.
M.I whose real name is Jude Abaga wasn’t done; he also lambasted rappers who were taking their craft towards the frontiers of singing just for the need to be popular. The “Brother” hitmaker felt the need to stand-up for the culture and he’s done this to perfect acclaim.
“You Rappers Should Fix Up Your Lives” has generated a world of reaction across board. However, one thing you cannot deny is the fact that M.I has stated nothing but the truth whichever way you choose to look at it.
He’s been there and done that with several hit songs too numerous to mention. Now, he is coming back in full force with an upcoming studio album that promises to be the fierce. Other emcees better take note of the General’s clarion call and return to the trenches; it will just not be business as usual after this.
