Without a doubt, South African Hip Hop royal, AKA and Nigerian heavyweight, Olamide continue to set the pace on this season’s Coke Studio Africa. After so much collaborations, the duo have now challenged each other to take on covers of their respective monster hit songs, “Run Jozi“ and “Lagos Boys.”
Well, SupaMega took “Lagos Boys” for a spin and nuked the effort even much to Olamide‘s admiration and applause. The “The World Is Yours” rapper who is on a massive roll with the drop of his collaborative album with Anatii, “Be Careful What You Wish For,” even dropped some Naija lingo, using the globally-acknowledged pidgin English as a bait.
Not done, AKA also brought even more life to a song which Olamide cooked to monster status. He dropped back its structure a bit, lacing its verses with a happy tone, while keeping the faith in the original killer hook. After all, they said do not fix it if it isn’t broken.
In the end, AKA just got a valid Lagos State citizenship as he has proven without fail that he is a confirmed Lagos Boy. African unity simply mesmerises the soul and I think we should cop a knowledge or two from AKA‘s delivery of “Lagos Boys.”
