The highly engaging Ben Pol resurfaces with a new track titled “Wapo,” and it’s got East Africa a-jigging. Given the beauty of the song and the accompanying music video, one sees the song flying in lurid colours across Africa.
Benard Michael Paul Mnyang’anga is the Tanzanian songster long famous as Ben Pol. Consistency, a strong work and devotion to his art has seen Ben Pol emerge as one of the most engaging voices in Tanzanian music and one of the finest.
It is hard not to love his singing, the emotional and soul investments he makes in his songs are only too apparent in the beauty of the songs he offers. And it is quite easy to make emotional attachment to his songs – and that includes “Wapo,” of course.
Other numbers that readily come to mind are “Wakuone,” “Si Mbaya,” featuring The Mafik, “Why,” featuring Harmonize, and “Zai,” featuring Nigeria’s Kizz Daniel. He had feature, alongside Dully Sykes, on Young Killer‘s “Hunijui” and released “Ntale Nawe” with Cedo.
The new number “Wapo” is transporting, a number you may find yourself wanting to share with that one who makes your heart beat faster. It may be said, then, that in “Wapo” Ben Pol has got a number that zips like the wind. You should love this number.
