After what seems like forever, Ugandan songster Ziza Bafana finally makes a reappearance on our radar. He comes with a track of gold, a track titled “Kikwatako,” released without a featured artiste.
The tack, like almost everything the songster has released so far, makes an interesting listening experience. Here, if you like, is one track you will find yourself returning to over and over again. It is just so stirring you might end up making it a part of you.
Given a fine history of investing his soul in his singing, the charms such as “Kikwatako” bears, are what they are: Ziza Bafana’s music itself. Thus his songs remain interesting even after the third listen
Ziza Bafana may have disappeared temporarily from out horizon – he last featured here in the middle of December 2018, if you please – but his re-entry more than compensates for the months of absence: he comes with a number almost anyone can relate with, a number that comes right behind “Bye Bye Radio,” “Bikaye” and “Ebizibu,” to mention a few.
If you are looking forward to a number that will excite you to now end, a number that seems to open new frontiers of excitement with each repeated listen, a number that will not bore you, you may have to settle for “Kikwatako.” It is that good.
