In his latest jam “Deliver Me,” Ghanaian rapper Shatta Wale importunes the divine for intervention.
By the way this latest number firmly reminds one of “Testimony,” released earlier, in which he thanked God for His goodness. Take it or leave it, Shatta Wale is one who would not hide the role of the divine in his life and success.
Recognized a s Africa’s dancehall king, Shatta Wale has put Ghana on dance steroids. Are we surprised that he is today one of the most celebrated rappers in Ghana. And one of the most prolific too.
The ease with which he releases the song may one day, I guess, be the subject of critical scholarship. One day. And that day is pretty much upon us. You watch out.
Shatta Wale, who has a rich collaboration history, is the mastermind, among others, of “Only One Man,” “Juju,” “Round 3,” “Signboard,” “Heavy Load,” featuring Damage Musiq, “Life Be Time,” featuring Tinny, and “Island.”
