The Kenyan singer and actress, whose real name is Linet Masiro Munyali, was formerly a secular singer but gave her life to Christ and then released her first gospel single titled “Mateke.”
Her returning to the body of Christ surprised no one: Her parents, Samuel Kirui Munyali and Esther Njeri, are gospel ministers. Worthy of note, also, is that she is of mixed blood, a Ugandan on her father’s side and a Kenyan on her mother’s.
“Mateke.” Won her a Groove Award in the Video of the Year category. The song was also nominated for the song of the year but did not win it.
Size 8, who got married to DJ Mo, a Kenyan disc jockey in 2013, has a daughter called Ladasha Belle Munyara. She performed at President Uhuru Kenyatta’s swearing in, but some critics thought she could have done better
If they thought her performance poor then and that that a song would redeem it, “Arise” would be her best answer to those critics.
The song takes off from where “Mateke.” stopped with a soul-stirring melody that is sure to get listeners hooked.
