Oyenike Laoye-Oturu, better known as Nikki Laoye, a Nigerian soul gospel singer, has just released the video of her soar-away gospel song, “Mighty God.”
Nikki Laoye, who grew up in Lagos alongside three brothers, has the singular distinction of being the first Nigerian to be interviewed on BET, an American entertainment network, in 2009. It was also her pleasure to reject the invitation to sing during Donald Trump’s campaign.
Her first single, “Never Felt This Way Before,” produced by Cobhams Asuquo, introduced her to the cream of Nigeria’s musicnindustry. The doors have remained open since.
As well as being a singer dancer and actress, she also runs Angel 4 Life Foundation, an NGO that caters to the needs of internally displaced persons and people living with disabilities.
“Mighty God” is a soulful appreciation of the grace and power of God, His glory, love, and might. It is beautiful in its sounds and visuals and most likely to convince an agnostic that there indeed is Someone up in heaven who knows mankind and all things, from the beginning to the end.
About the song, Nikki Laoye has this to say: “Mighty God is the simplest song I have ever written. Three sentences that simply help to convey a heart of gratitude to our Heavenly Father who never lets go of your hand and would literally tear down walls to come rescue you.”
The United Kingdom recording artist Karl Nova did an awesome job of capturing the essence of the song. The production was excellent.
