Baton Rouge rapper, Kevin Gates, is back with a surprise 3-song EP titled “Chained To The City”. This would be his first release since getting out of jail in January.
Off this EP is the track “Change Lanes” which he has teased his fans about over the past few days on Instagram.
Kevin Gates whose full name is Kevin Jerome Gilyard, focuses his rap in the befittingly dubbed “Chained To The City” EP, on his recent incarceration and the strict travel ban imposed on him by the Department of Corrections, which does not allow him out of Illinois (not even to see his family).
Specifically, on “Change Lanes”, the Atlantic Records act shows off his melodic singing rap style which has gained him quite a number of fans and followers.
He has put it to play on this project has he passionately raps about being labelled a gang chief when he has never been a gang member.
Hebust into the rap scene with his 2013 mixtape, “The Luca Brasi Story” and has followed it closely with his debut studio album, “Stranger Than Fiction” which reached No. 37 on the Billboard 200.
The Louisiana based rapper has been consistently delivering good music to his fans which made them stick by him despite his ups and downs with the law.
This is evident with the warm welcome “Chained To The City” has received by his fans all over since its release.
