It’s a feeling of paying tribute to mothers and Fat Joe, Big Sean and Dre are not about to be left out. We’ve seen Shatta Wale pay a roaring tribute to his mother with “Mama Stories” and now, the duo of Big Sean and Dre join Fat Joe to release “Momma” to pay tribute to their mothers in celebration of yesterday’s Mother’s Day celebration.
The Terror Squad artist has been away from music for a while as he has been focusing on his Coca Vision podcast but there’s no way he’s missing an opportunity to pay tribute to his mother.
Fat Joe had in January released a single titled “Pick It Up” to rave reviews and positive comments and plans to release a solo album titled “The Book of Joe” later this year.
Produced by Cool & Dre, “Momma” sees Fat Joe and Sean travel back to the past as they remember where they started from, the struggle, and how their mothers’ positive influence over them is responsible for where they are today.
Dre on his part comes in on the second verse and spits lyrics that leave the head spinning. “My mother she the shit, reason I’m so legit” summarizes perfectly the theme that “Momma” took and the lengths that the trio went to pay tribute to the important women in their lives.
“Momma” is not just a tribute to Fat Joe, Dre, and Sean’s mothers, it is a tribute to all of our mothers and proof that no matter how far we go, we never forget where we started from and who helped make us. “Momma” is as emotional as they come and will make a reflective listen.
