Ghanaian BBnZ Live signees Ko-Jo Cue and Shaker have just released the visuals for “Up & Awake” the third single off their critically acclaimed recent album, “Pen and Paper”, on which they feature Kwesi Arthur, and it’s phenomenal.
The track “Up & Awake” features fellow Hip-hop artiste, Kwesi Arthur and talks about rising up and breaking free from oppression regardless of how difficult it might seem, in order to really enjoy freedom.
The just-released music video for the joint was directed by Esianyokumodzi, whose creativity comes to play as he manages to tell us a captivating story that perfectly resonates with the theme of the song.
The video, which is largely based on the happenings of the slavery era, expectedly evokes deep, dark and uneasy emotions, hence the sensitive content warning which we see at the very beginning of the clip.
The artistes feature in the video (which is a short movie of sorts) as slaves who are trying to escape captivity and ultimately find their freedom. But do they succeed?
