Kanye West & Kid Cudi – Kids See Ghosts

“Kids See Ghosts” is a collaborative project by Kanye West and Kid Cudi.

The duo released their widely-anticipated debut album, “Kids See Ghosts”, via imprint, GOOD Music.

You just can’t help but notice the fragmented, calm and fragile brand of hip-hop that Kanye West and Cleveland, Ohio, rapper, Kid Cudi helped to mould in “Kids See Ghosts”.

Reports has it that Kanye West will take the lion’s share of the headlines around the album, given that it’s the third release he’s been deeply involved with this month – from his   solo record, ‘Ye’, and the Pusha T album ‘Daytona’, which he produced.

However, this is Cudi’s album through and through.

“Kids See Ghosts” infuses ethereal, low-key beats and off-kilter, barely in-tune singing that have been Cudi’s trademark since his emotional 2008 mixtape ‘A Kid Named Cudi’ influenced Kanye’s introspective and ice-cold ‘808s & Heartbreak’, which in turn inspired the likes of Canadian rapper, Drake and The Weekend.

The most memorable highlights of ‘Kids See Ghosts’ occurs just past the mid-way point of the finale track, ‘Cudi Montage’.

It features a call-and-response between the lyrics “Lord shine your light on me” and backing vocals that implore, “Stay strong”, while a calming wash of synth ebbs away in the background to give listeners a soothing feel.
