Femi Kuti – One People One World

, the multi Grammy award nominated first son of legendary Afrobeat pioneer, Fela Kuti has just commissioned his 10th studio album “One People One World”, and we can’t get enough of it.

The 12-track album which Femi has been working on for a number of years is a significantly new direction for the critically acclaimed Afrobeat veteran who has admittedly become more optimistic about Africa’s future.

Femi and his band, Positive Force, recorded the bulk of “One People One World” in Lagos, and the album is being distributed across on all major digital platforms by Chocolate City Music.

As anticipated, the Afrobeat legend uses the 51-minute duration of the album (which was released under the Knitting Records label) to remind us – as individuals and as a continent – of the ideals we are expected to live up to and the attendant greatness that is attainable.

In a recent interview with the Rolling Stone magazine, Femi explained the morale behind the optimism which the album bears with it, and further emphasized just how much sociopolitical change the younger generation is capable of making.

“I’m a father and I love my kids, so I want to give the younger generation a message of hope.

“Despite all our problems, we can create greatness in our lives.”

“Na Their Way Be That” and the album’s title track “One People One ” are the two pre-released tracks off the album. As expected, both songs have already received notable critical acclaim and are still enjoying rave reviews from the listening public.

According to Chocolate City Group (Femi’s management company) the goal, especially with this album, is to take ’s brand of Afrobeat as close to the fans as possible.

Femi therefore kicked off what promises to be a series of live performances of the album yesterday with a power-packed performance at the New Afrika Shrine, Lagos. The “One People One World” Tour is expected to hit other locations in the coming weeks.
