Simi – Simisola Album

Nigeria’s sweetheart and songbird, Simi of the X3M Music fame is finally out with her massively-anticipated sophomore album. The self-titled “Simisola” album also doubles as Simi‘s debut project under the tutelage of the Steve Babaeko led imprint.

Simisola Bolatito Ogunleye has been in the business of making music for several years. Prior to her foray into mainstream music, the singer and songwriter was a gospel artist who released her debut “Ogaju” album in 2006.

In 2014, Simi also dropped the “Restless” EP, before her signature to X3M. That alliance finally got the Nigerian nation to get a notice Simi‘s celestial, mesmerising and powerful vocals as well musical abilities.

The petite damsel will later go on to burst into limelight with the release of her 2015 smash hit single titled “Jamb Question.” It has been a world of other stunning releases from the world of Simi‘s musical vault and arsenal ever since.

Efforts such as “Smile For Me,” “Love Don’t Care,” “Soldier,” “No Forget,” “Joromi,” “Open and Close,” and even her collaborative “Chemistry” EP with rumoured love interest, Falz, readily come to mind.

The “Simisola” album is the latest project of musical art dominating Nigerian music circles as well as social media channels. The fact that Simi expended her the depths of her vocal abilities on this masterclass is unfortunately not the biggest talking point.

The biggest talking point is how she fuses subjects of love and maters of the heart, as well as societal, cultural and spiritual issues. That feat simply makes the “Simisola” album a well-balanced piece that appeals to a wider audience.

The project is a 15-track masterpiece which is inclusive of 3 bonus tracks. It also sees “Orente” crooner and another rumoured beau, Adekunle Gold as the only guest act with his feature on “Take Me Back.”

Without a doubt, Simi did go over and beyond to deliver a masterclass effort that promises to enjoy a dominance on the charts, musical devices, airwaves and the playlists. Whatever your issues are against this funny and cheerful act, the musical talent is undeniable and we absolutely doff our hats.
